Introduction to Linocut taught by Colleen Cox Linocut is a relief printmaking process that involves carving away linoleum to create an image. This Introduction to Linocut workshop will review a brief history of relief printing and teach students the basics of carving and inking their own block. Introduction to Monotype: 3 Session Class taught by Kathy Klompas Session 1 Learn the fundamentals of working with printmaking ink and using a press. Mix transparent inks, use a brayer to apply ink to a printing plate, register multiple plates, understand how layers of ink reveal new colors on the surface of the print. Session 2 In this session we will freely play to expand our vocabulary of monotype tools, and explore the potential of ghost prints and multi-layered prints. Session 3 In this class we will discuss options together and work independently to bring completion to our vision. All materials and tools will be provided for the workshop. ![]() | Introduction to Plexiglass Drypoint taught by Colleen Cox Drypoint is the most direct intaglio technique. It involves scratching into a plate with a sharp tool to create a drawing. This workshop will teach students the basic techniques of drawing their own plate, and the process of inking and wiping the plate. Students are encouraged to come with a sketch or photograph they would like to use to create their drypoint. All materials and tools will be provided for the workshop. ![]() | Introduction to Gelli Plate Printing taught by Colleen Cox Gelli plate printing is a relatively new way of making monotype prints. It uses a flexible printing plate that is made of a synthetic gelatin that can be cleaned and reused for endless amounts of prints. In this one day workshop, students will learn the basics of making a Gelli plate print, creating textures and layers of color in the process. All materials and tools provided.
