Through Their Eyes – On Display Until 10/21

The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce will be hosting an interactive art exhibit by Michael Tondreau, local art photographer. The exhibit will be on display until October 21st. The gallery is open for viewing Monday through Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm. There will be an artist reception Wednesday October 5th 5-7pm.

Through Their Eyes is a presentation of a diverse group of human eyes. It has been said the seed of consciousness can be seen in our eyes. While so much of society highlights the difference between the citizens of this country, there is similarity within our diversity. Prolonged eye contact can be so intense it ’s easier to avoid. Through Their Eyes asks the viewer to examine their reactions                                                                                                                             to the group of eyes that confront them, and notice subtly on an individual                                                                                                                                   level.

There are two ways to interact with this exhibit. Each image will have been given an emotion. There will be no labels. Instead you will be invited to match the eyes with the emotion. Another opportunity to share your experience of the exhibit will be to fill out the online questionnaire, which you can find by following the link below.

Saratoga Arts Announces $148,496.96 for Arts Projects in Fulton,Montgomery and Saratoga Counties

Saratoga Arts is pleased to announce the grantees for our 2022 Community Arts Regrant Program which supports organizations and individual artists in Fulton, Montgomery, and Saratoga Counties. 47 grants totaling $148,496.96 have been awarded to support community-based arts events taking place in 2022. We are thrilled to be setting a record this year not only in the amount of funding distributed but also with the number of projects we will be able to fund, after years of isolation, it is thrilling to know these funded projects can continue to create art in our communities and, perhaps more importantly, build community through the arts.

With funding awarded from the New York State Council on the Arts, Saratoga Arts’ Community Arts Regrant Program supports artists, non-profit organizations, and government departments in Saratoga, Fulton, and Montgomery Counties, in partnership with qualifying organizations and artists, to present arts and cultural programs of high artistic merit in local communities.

This years’ grant recipients were acknowledged and celebrated at our annual Community Arts Celebration on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 10:30 AM-12:00 PM at Saratoga Arts, 320 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY. The public was invited to attend this free event to learn more about funded projects taking place in their communities and to enjoy light fare, beverages, and a music performance by grant awardee Byron Nilsson.

This year's recipients and their funded projects offer their communities year-round opportunities to experience a wide array of free or low-cost artistic events highlighting talented local and regional artists. An estimated 25,000 community members, 5,500 youth, and 1,500 artists will directly participate in these grant-funded events occurring throughout 2022.
