In this 3 session class, you will learn the steps of creating a woodcut, including transferring an image to a block, various approaches to carving, and producing a series of prints. By the end of the class you'll have the skills and knowledge to know what materials to buy, how to print, and carve, so you can continue creating on your own.

You will have the option to advance your skills by working at a larger scale of 9 x 12 inches or making a multi-color image with multiple blocks at 4 x 6 inches.

All materials and tools will be provided for the class.

Drawing to Print: Copper Plate Drypoint Etching

    taught by Colleen Cox

In the class, you will learn about working with a copper plate to translate your drawings into a printable matrix. We will be using the technique drypoint, which is where you draw directly onto a plate using an etching needle. We will cover how to polish your plate, bevel your edges, draw onto copper, and use the printing press. You will be guided through each step of the printing process and leave with a few prints of your image!

No experience necessary! All levels are welcome. This is a great introductory class for those interested in pursuing other etching techniques using copper.

All materials and tools will be provided for the class.

After taking a printmaking class, you have the opportunity to sign up for open studio time to work on your own projects!
