  Introduction to decorative yarn arts

  taught by Alice Kaplan

  Participants will explore creative possibilities for expression using yarn. They will learn and practice several basic techniques for creating works out of yarn, including knit, crochet, needlepoint, and rug hooking.

  Participants will design and create an individual project to take home. Participants will also create a collective artwork project in class which will be donated to benefit a local non-profit organization. 

  All materials and tools will be provided for the class.  All skill levels encouraged to register.

This beginner-friendly class is perfect for anyone—from those who’ve never touched a needle to crafters looking to add extra finesse to their annual holiday projects. You’ll be guided step-by-step as we create beautiful hand-stitched ornaments using felt, embroidery floss, and shimmering beads. We’ll cover basic embroidery stitches and simple beading techniques, so you’ll leave with a finished ornament and the confidence to keep creating at home.
