Living
beside the Hudson River is like having a front-row seat to a stage in
continuous flux—reflecting the sky, the seasons, and the surprises of each new
day. You never know what you’ll see when you sit on the bank or set out in a
kayak. For me, the river is not just a muse but a wise and steady teacher. The
images in this collection inspired some of the short stories and poems in my photo-illustrated
book, River Time: Mindful Reflections from the Upper Hudson (2025).
When
the surface of the water is tranquil, it clearly reflects everything around it.
Yet reflection happens not only on the water’s surface but also through
encounters with life along the river. A great blue heron or a fleeting sunrise
can become a mirror, showing something about ourselves or life. You might see
the same tree, flower, or bird countless times, and then suddenly, one day it
captivates you. Perhaps it is illuminated just right, carries a message, or
allows a rare closeness. Such moments feel like pure grace.
This
exhibition is a small gathering of those moments, an invitation into a story of
awareness, connection, impermanence, resilience, gratitude, and awe. I
experience photography as a form of meditation, offering exquisite openings to
the luminosity that is our essential nature. Explore more of my work at
