    Mindful Beading

    taught by Arlin Zephyr Will

Beads have served various purposes across cultures for centuries, including roles in meditation and prayer, as tools for counting and tracking, and as objects to engage and calm the mind.

    About the Instructor

I work with glass and stone beads to create nontraditional rosaries, meditation beads, fidgets, and memory aids, and I strongly believe in finding ways to bring beauty and ritual to everyday life. I have worked as a teacher, educational program coordinator, and multimedia communicator, and have professional experience in the performing arts. I have been an educator and an artist in parallel for most of my life, and I am excited to now be merging those two passions. I am new to the Capital Region (formerly of North Carolina) and loving it here.

    Whimsical Landscapes in Air-Dry Clay

    with Forsythia Thomas

Create your own tiny dream world in clay!

In this two-session workshop, students will craft a small whimsical landscape sculpture inspired by the rolling countryside of upstate New York and the settings of beloved fantasy stories.

During the first session, students will learn the fundamentals of working with air-dry clay using minimal and found tools. In the second session, they will explore a variety of finishing methods, including painting with gouache, acrylics, and PanPastels. Air-dry clay will allow students to begin learning about clay sculpture without access to a kiln.

This class is designed for adult beginners, and no prior art or clay experience is required. It is perfect for craft-lovers, fantasy fans, and anyone looking for a fun, low-pressure, and hands-on creative outlet.
