Artist Statement
Melissa Kahl
is an artist from Saratoga Springs, NY. She predominantly works with acrylic
paint, oil paint, and pyrography. She’s been an artist her whole life, but
recently added “published author” to her job description. Her first book,
Ellie’s Masterclass, was inspired by the beauty she finds in nature, her
family, and her dogs. This five-year project was an accumulation of 51 acrylic
paintings, some of which are here on display. The process also involved dozens
of extra paintings, sketches, and deleted scenes (also here on display). For
Melissa, making art has always brought her joy and fulfillment. She hopes to
bring that same joy to everyone who sees her artwork. Find more on her website,
