Artist Statement

My friends and family call me Edie. I am a self-taught artist. Art for me is about the creative process. As a hobby, it allows me to explore different sides of myself. I started my art adventure as a muralist over 25 years ago. Working in acrylics, I developed an interest in watercolors, which led me into oils, and from there, I developed an interest in mixed media. I really have tried it all. I have come full circle with my art. Currently, I am primarily working in fiber, all shapes and forms. From slow stitch sewing, like Kawandi style, and embroidery, to needle and wet felting, I enjoy it all. I find myself on a journey, working with multiple techniques, the medium helps me express my vision. I travel through the art. My wish is for everyone to “Make Every Moment Count.” On some artwork, you may even see my signature as “MEMC.”
