I find great pleasure in outdoor photography, but when the cold presses in, I happily snuggle into my home studio. Most recently, I have returned to painting to explore my relationship with nature, humankind, and spirituality. I often work under the influence of meditation or crunching double-bass using various media, including digital images, found objects, paint, glues, twine, refuse, love, joy, wonder, and pain. Most of my images are based on ideas from Upstate New York, where water so frequently meets land, a contrary place in both form and function. - Janene Bouck’s Artists Statement 1/6/24
