Artist Statement

I have been drawing as long as I can remember and started painting shortly thereafter.  Drawing and painting take me to a different place.  While I have a pencil or brush in my hand, I think of little else.

Recently I have been working on landscapes, but I have enjoyed drawing and painting wildlife, and have worked on still lifes.  One of my favorite subjects is the human face, but I have not pursued that lately.

I have enjoyed taking art classes since I was very young.  My parents indulged me with drawing and painting classes at the Albany Institute of History and Art.  I was a Studio In Art student in High School and, after a long time off, I started oil painting classes as an adult.

I enjoy drawing, and recently started experimenting with colored pencil.  I also recently began painting with water colors.  I have painted with acrylic for several years, but my first passion is oil paint.  My process now involves a sketch, a water color and then, finally, an oil painting.

I hope to continue drawing and painting as long as I can hold pencil and brush.

I hope you enjoy my work.
