Artist Statement

Looking at my artwork, there are many varying topics that do not seem to be cohesive. They all vary from instruments to nature scenes to animals.  They do however, have one thing in common. In every drawing, I pick a topic or image that highlights the beauty of God’s creation. This is shown in both nature, as well as highlighting the gifts and talents that He has given to people through music. Through my artwork, I want to bring focus to the things that bring joy to people, whether that be drawing the things they are passionate about, or highlighting the beauty in nature.

I have always loved the challenge of trying to draw as photo realistic as I can. In all of my recent artwork, in addition to this constant challenge I have made for myself, I have felt drawn to create drawings that have high contrast as well. There is something so visually interesting about artwork that uses the lightest lights and the darkest darks. Through my use of both white and black charcoal, I am hoping that I accomplished just that in my artwork.
