Carolyn Justice is an award winning pastel artist who has been an instructor at the Art Center for over 20 years. Students work from photo references and are encouraged to use their own ideas for color and composition. This class offers instruction to advanced students, however, all levels are welcome.

BEGINNING OIL PAINTING

Instructor: Lisa David

This 4 week class is designed to help you learn the following: 

• Getting started: What do you want to paint? This answer determines your supplies and set up. Studio painting in a studio, you can paint from life or from photos. If you like landscapes, you may want to try painting en plein air (outside)
• Successfully paint a still life, successfully paint a landscape
• Clear up misconceptions about oil painting
• Give you confidence to explore painting more!

Painting Winter Landscape in Watercolor: ONLINE
Instructor: Robert O'Brien

Learn to paint the beauty of winter online with watercolorist Robert J. O’Brien AWS NWS. This workshop will focus on painting the dramatic winter landscape in its glorious splendor. The first day’s class will begin with a demonstration by the instructor, and he’ll explain his technique for capturing the vibrancy of autumn colors through the layering process. Techniques for creating light and shadow will also be shown. Students will paint on the second day of the class followed by a critique at the end of the session. This workshop is open to all abilities with some watercolor experience suggested.

Professional actor (AEA, AFTRA), master teacher, director brings you this high-energy, hands-on, fast-paced class will equip players with techniques for creating original comedic scenes and characters, Players will gain confidence and widely applicable theatrical skill by practicing sequenced theater games and improvisations.

FIBER AND FABRIC

RUG WEAVING with Studio Time

Instructor: Nancy Sharples

Prerequisite: experience with threading a loom required.

Weave a sample warp on a four harness loom to learn to weave several types of weft-faced rugs techniques.  Conquer krokbragd, understand how block weaves and double faced structures work.  Students will each warp and weave a small rug sampler on one threading and then switch to a different loom to weave additional samples for a variety of bound weave rugs.  You must know how to wind a warp and thread a loom to register for this class.

Cotton warp and rug wool weft yarns will be available for this project.  A materials fee of $15. will be collected in class.  Please bring a good pair of scissors to each class.

Classes are Wednesdays 1pm - 3pm. Jan 11,18, 25, Feb 1, 15, 22 (No class Wednesday February 8)

The studio is open Tuesdays - Thursday 10am - 3pm.  Begins Wednesday Jan 11 and closes Feb 23.
