Organic Alchemy, Printmaking and Photography
As an artist I have journeyed from textiles to printmaking, now merging elements from both disciplines.
For many years I have documented the literal remnants of the textile industry along the Mohawk River below the Cohoes Falls. Many of my monotypes reflect the chaos and beauty of these images, so I welcome the opportunity to present them side by side.
Printmaking allows me to respond to color, movement, emotion and balance with fluidity and freedom. I am free to shape thoughts and images as I play.
My monotypes, unique hand-pulled impressions, achieve their luminous qualities by building up a painterly surface of thick and thin dyes, complemented with traditional printmaking inks
Organically the process unfolds, as I allow the magic of discoveries and process to guide me. This alchemy creates expressions of dynamic flow, where bold colors dance with a life of their own.
