As a mixed media artist, my work is an ongoing exploration of curiosity and experimentation. Working on art assemblage is a journey of unexpected twists and turns. Materials are combined or juxtaposed and are chosen for meaning as well as compositional interest.
Perhaps prompted by the division in our country at this moment in time, my current body of work, Counter Narrative, invites the viewer to consider the other side of every story. Viewers are invited to challenge their thinking by considering the invisible nuances that may be lurking between the lines in an attempt to move beyond first impressions.
For example, in the piece Within Reach, one’s first impression may be that an object of love or desire is within the realm of possibility. Delving deeper into the narrative, however, this desire may be misguided, unhealthy, or unrequited. Or perhaps not.
