Foundations of Oil Painting

Take your oil painting skills to the next level in this engaging and supportive intermediate course. Designed for painters who have a basic understanding of oil painting materials and techniques, this class focuses on strengthening your artistic voice while refining the technical skills needed to create more confident, expressive paintings.
Working from landscapes, florals, still lifes, or your own reference photos, you'll deepen your understanding of color mixing, value, composition, and light. Through demonstrations, individualized instruction, and hands-on studio practice, you'll explore layering, glazing, brushwork, texture, and other techniques that bring depth and richness to your work.
Students are encouraged to pursue subjects that inspire them while receiving personalized guidance based on their individual goals and experience. Constructive group critiques and one-on-one feedback will help you evaluate your work, solve painting challenges, and continue growing as an artist.
Students should bring:
● Oil paint set
● Brushes (assorted sizes)
●Palette
●Palette knife
●Odorless mineral spirits or alternative solvent
●Linseed or walnut oil
●cotton rags
●Apron
