Beyond the Basics-Watercolor Painting

This 4-week class will focus on a different style of watercolor painting each week.  Students can take one class or all four classes.

Week 1: Faces (May 5, 2026)

Learn to paint the details of a face with focus on shadow and proportions.
 

Week 2: People (May 12, 2026)
Learn the basics of painting people, with attention to proportion, expression, and skin tones.

Week 3: Still Life (May 19, 2026)
Develop your eye for composition, light, and shadow while painting everyday objects in a classic still life format.

Week 4: Plein Air (May 26, 2026)
Explore painting outside of the classroom space and learn to find the perfect setting to paint a unique watercolor.

By the end of this course, students will have completed multiple finished paintings, built a stronger understanding of watercolor techniques, and developed a personal sketchbook practice to continue their artistic journey. Sketchbook assignments will encourage experimentation and personal exploration outside of class.

All skill levels welcome. All supplies will be provided.
