Sculpting with Gourds

This hands-on class begins with an introduction to the history of gourd art, complete with inspiring examples. From there, the workshop is divided into three sections:
Preparation & Cleaning – Learn how to properly clean and prep gourds for sculpting.
Decoration – Use hand and power tools to cut, drill, and carve gourds into animal- or bird-themed sculptures. Explore a variety of adhesives—hot glue, epoxy, and more—to assemble your creation.
Finishing – Apply paints, inks, and markers to bring your sculpture to life, then seal it with protective coatings ranging from matte to glossy for your desired finish.
By the end of the class, you’ll have a completely gourd-based sculpture and a strong foundation in techniques you can use for future projects.
