Contemporary Mixed Media

Assemblage and collage, where we blur the boundaries of form and materials are increasingly relevant art practices for our times. In this class we will play with collage, riff on your photo album, start a journal and wrap up with an exploration of depth and texture. We will explore a variety of contemporary approaches and techniques with weekly prompts and feedback in a supportive atmosphere. The emphasis is on play and experimentation. You will finish with a new portfolio of mixed media works.
Many basic collage materials and tools will be provided by instructor at no charge.
Students should bring a basic kit (see list below) which they can expand on with instructor guidance and according to taste as the workshop unfolds.
Basic Kit: Scissors, Glue Stick, Colored Papers, Photos, Magazines, A simple blank journal
