Layered Monotype

Monotype is a printmaking process that creates one unique print. It allows for improvisation and painterly effects. Using a 9 x 12 inch sheet of plexiglass, we will apply ink and transfer it to paper through pressure using a printing press. In this class, we will play with different mark-making techniques, stencil, and trace monotype methods! We will go over transparency and layering, experimenting with color shifts and overlaps through multiple impressions.
All materials are included. However, students are encouraged to bring flat objects like strings, leaves, fabric, etc. that can be run through the press.
Beginner printmakers are welcome! This class can be repeatedly taken, allowing you to have a newfound understanding of the process each time!
