Tapestry Weaving

Summer 2024 Teen Workshops: Week 3

4 Day Workshop, Mon July 15th-Thurs July 18th, 2024 1:00 -4:00 PM  

Work on a frame loom and learn tapestry weaving techniques like those used in Navajo rugs and Medieval tapestries. Learn how to weave stripes, boxes, curves and other shapes to create a small wool hanging of your own design. Students will also have a chance to work on a floor loom to weave a small sample piece of cloth.

All materials and tools for the workshop will be provided. 

$190 member/$226 non-member

WORKSHOP REMINDERS:

Please send your child with a water bottle as well a peanut & tree nut free snack each day.

Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Sunscreen and hats for being outdoors in the summer.

Personal devices (cell phones, tablets and/or headphones) are permitted for the following only: digital art making, visual photo/video references, research, to listen to music during studio time. They're to be put away during teacher instruction and snack breaks to socialize with peers and enjoy the outdoors.

ENTRANCE DIRECTIONS:

Please enter the building through the lower Spring Street Entrance located at the Public Restrooms. The main gallery entrance on Broadway will be closed. For directions, when looking at Saratoga Arts from the corner of Broadway, take a left down the hilly sidewalk. Doors will be on your right. Ring the doorbell at the interior wooden door upon arrival. Swipe access with the free app, Open Path, will be given to Emergency Contacts #1 and #2 the week prior to camp by a separate email through the company Avigilon Alta.
