THE EXPRESSIVE ART OF COLLAGE: Kathy Klompas
So many papers accumulate around us, how can we reclaim them to compose intriguing, expressive images with rich texture and engaging energy?
Starting with altered magazine pages we will learn a simple fusing technique that easily creates a wrinkle free surface when working with thin papers. Bring potential collage materials of your choosing to the first class and we can discuss how to best incorporate a variety of materials, adhesives, substrates and presentation.
Students of all levels, from beginner to experienced will enjoy sharing and learning a variety of approaches.
Students should bring their favorite scissors, and a razor knife to the first class, and perhaps any lightweight papers that inspire them, but magazine pages to alter will be provided. For subsequent classes students may want to bring papers, drawing tools, paints, adhesives, these will be discussed as needed.
