Past Projects

The Saratoga Schenectady Endoscopy Center Collection, Part I

The Project: The Saratoga Schenectady Endoscopy Center (SSEC) asked for our help in acquiring 30+, 2-D works of art for their brand new, state of the art medical center in Burnt Hills, New York, set to open at the end of September 2017.  They were interested in supporting artists from the surrounding eight counties, Albany, Rensselaer, Schenectady, Montgomery, Fulton, Hamilton, Warren, and Washington counties.  One thing that made this project unique was that the SSEC needed at least half of the works to be covered in glass because they would be hung in sterile areas.  The SSEC chose a maximum price point of $300 for each work.

Over the course of 6 weeks, Saratoga Arts developed and presented a catalogue of 505 works by regional artists for the Endoscopy Center to choose from.  For their collection, they chose 33 original works from the catalogue.  The collection now hangs in their new building located at 848 Route 50, Burnt Hills, NY 12027.

The Saratoga Schenectady Endoscopy Center Collection, Part II

The Project: For our second project with The Saratoga Schenectady Endoscopy Center (SSEC) we were asked to help to find up to 10, 2-D works, by regional artists, that depict scenes of Saratoga (works depicting horses, race track, Broadway, SPAC, Yaddo, etc…) and/or Schenectady (works depicting the Stockade District, scenes from Union Street, Proctor’s, etc…). The SSEC chose a maximum price point of $300 for each work.

Over the course of two months, Saratoga Arts developed and presented a catalogue of 65 works by regional artists that met their specifications.  In addition to the 33 works they pucrhased for their collection in the first part of their project, they chose an addition 8 works (with a Saratoga or Schenectady theme). The work from the second part of our project with the Saratoga Schenectady Endoscopy Center hangs in the conference room of their new building located at 848 Route 50, Burnt Hills, NY 12027.

The Hudson Headwaters Collection

The Project: In the fall of 2017, Hudson Headwaters staff reached out to Saratoga Arts asking for our help in creating a collection for their new Womens’ Center in Moreau, New York.  Saratoga Arts did a call for submissions to regional artists based on specs Hudson Headwaters provided: artists should live in the Hudson Headwaters service range (Albany, Clinton, Columbia, Franklin, Fulton, Essex, Greene, Hamilton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Warren & Washington Counties), they were looking for work that in a variety of styles and compositions, works that were bright, cheery, uplifting, colorful, and/or happy,  modern or traditional works, as well as landscapes of the Adirondacks, Lake George, North Country, & Northern New York, and all works should have a price point of $400 or less.

After a 6-week open call, we received a record number of submissions – 608!  We then developed a catalogue with all of the submissions and submitted it to Hudson Headwaters for review.  They selected 153 of those works to be included in a special catalogue that was presented to their staff, Board of Directors and attendees at their annual fundraiser.  From the catalogue of 153, 46 works were chosen for purchase by their supporters.  The work from our project with Hudson Headwaters currently hangs in its temporary location, the Administrative Offices of Hudson Headwaters in Glens Falls, until their new building opens in the fall of 2019.
