Terry Teitelbaum, Art in Public Places
Saratoga Springs Visitors Center, September 28 - October 23, 2021
Between the Layers
Capturing beauty from surroundings and memories extract an emotional connection for me as an artist. Each painting is layered representing a moment that caught my sense of feeling to the visual rhythms and natural patterns seen in life.
My use of color combinations was honed over decades working with textiles. The artistic expression in my work is a convergence of these textures and colors from my past, transferred to a paint medium. There are striking similarities between sheer fabrics and transparent pigment and iridescent fabric to interference paint. I simply traded one art form for another
While my landscapes suggest a touch of realism, the unpredictability of color and texture in my painting process push the work into abstraction.
Teitelbaums's exhibition is up for public viewing September 28 - October 23 at Saratoga Springs Visitors Center, 297 Broadway, Saratoga Springs, NY.
