Live Model-Open Studio Special Event (21 Oct 2026)

Join us for a special 18+ Open Studio Figure drawing event featuring breast cancer survivor, Brigid Bennett, as our guest model. This unique evening in the Dee Sarno Theater brings together art, community, and a celebration of strength and resilience while supporting an important local non-profit organization.

Participants may work in the medium of their choice and should bring their own supplies. Our Open Studio Coordinator will set up the space, guide the session, time the poses, and control the lighting. Brigid will share a little of her story and pose semi-nude for this special event. A brief peer critique/discussion will wrap up the evening, giving participants an opportunity to share their work and exchange feedback.

Our Open Studio Sessions are informal, community-based gatherings with no formal instructor. Artists are encouraged to talk about their work, exchange ideas, and explore different methods and media while working from a live model. This session is a great opportunity to practice figure drawing.

Whether you're an experienced figure drawing artist or simply looking to try something new, come spend an evening creating, connecting, and supporting a meaningful cause.

Preregistration is encouraged, but tickets will be available at the door. Cash only.

$30 donation per person.

Proceeds from this special Open Studio will benefit To Life!, helping support their work providing education, support, and resources to individuals and families affected by breast cancer.

Open Studio Sessions do not have a teacher and are meant to be an informal, community session where artists are free to talk about their work, share ideas, and discuss a variety of methods and media. These sessions are great practice for any artist interested in working from a live model* without the formality of a class. All skill levels are welcome.

Participants are encouraged to work in a medium of their choice, but must bring their own supplies. Our monitor will set up, lead the group, time poses, and control lighting. A brief peer critique will end each session.

Watercolor Painting

Whether you're a beginner or have some experience with watercolors, this class will provide guidance and encouragement to enhance your skills and create stunning artworks. The class will focus on learning watercolor techniques and foster creativity while learning basic to advanced techniques such as: wax resist, wet-on-wet, dry brush, blowing and more.

By the end of the course, students will have completed multiple finished paintings, built a stronger understanding of watercolor techniques, and gained confidence in watercolor painting.

All skill levels welcome. All supplies will be provided.

About the teacher:

Mary Jo is a multidisciplinary artist who experiments and creates with mixed media. She is especially interested in helping young artists develop their ideas, strengthen their technical skills, and build confidence in their creative voice. Mary Jo’s teaching focuses on balancing foundational skills with experimentation so students can explore what excites them most in their work. She has built art programs in schools in both California and New York so young people can be supported and thrive in the arts. She is currently an assistant principal at a Boces k-12 virtual school and live painting at events all over the country. In her free time Mary Jo is creating and exploring nature with her family and dog, Walter.

Join Saratoga Arts for a free, inclusive, community-driven gathering for adult artists of all levels to practice watercolor painting, share ideas, refine skills and grow together. Monthly meetings combine indoor skill-building and outdoor exploration, utilizing local landmarks and established arts events.

No formal teaching will occur during meetings and participants should bring all of their own supplies and creativity.

Group will meet the following dates from 1:00 PM to 3:30 PM:
