Artist Statement:

I have had two wonderful parents, Hedwig Avallone & John Baxter, who have encouraged my art since I could hold a crayon. They are both artists and scientists. I spent most summers and vacations going to art museums. I even took 4th place in a national art competition making a safety picture. I took as many art classes at Chazy High School as I could.

At Plattsburgh State I took several oil painting classes. I majored in Special Education, Elementary Education and Reading. My art professor William Crosby, encouraged me to keep painting my whole life. He even tried to convince me to switch my major to art.

Recently, I switched from spending my time making fused glass jewelry to oil painting. My friend Michael Weinberger has been a great influence and sponsor. I have been producing one to two oil paintings a week, getting brush time in. I opened MAB Designs LLC and have been selling pieces and doing some commission work. My web site has many of my art pieces. I have had many pieces at Saratoga Art Association member shows, Art in the Park in Saratoga, North Country Art shows in Glens Falls, LARAC, Lark Street Art Festival in Albany NY. I have a solo shows at Glens Falls City Hall and in Uncommon Ground Saratoga Springs in the month of August 2022. I participate in the yearly open house at the shirt Factory in Glens Falls. I have been honored to be producing a line of art that will be on beach apparel for Ocean Safari. My art is on permanent display in a new gallery in ST Thomas. I am also currently doing murals in Charlotte Amelia ST. I won 2021 Best Use of Color at an art show at James Fenimore Copper Museum.  My art is at Finishing Touches Store in Malta NY. I had a feature on attractions during track season Saratoga NY broadcasted by ABC Channel 10 news. It covered my art that is produced from pictures of customer's lake cruises with ExtremeHydroFlight.

I have been traveling all over the world in the last few years. I have been photographing, painting and doing oil pastels in these locations. My artwork is full of color. I look at the beauty found in the world and exaggerate the color and paint with dramatic brushstrokes to express the emotions and nuances I see in the world. I feel that this technique communicates with the viewer my experience at the locations I paint.
