Marta Baxter

Emotion of Colors

I have had two wonderful parents, Hedwig Avallone & John Baxter, who have encouraged my art since I could hold a crayon. They are both artists and scientists. I spent most summers and vacations going to art museums. I even took 4th place in a national art competition making a safety picture. I took as many art classes at Chazy High School as I could.

At Plattsburgh State I took several oil painting classes. I majored in Special Education, Elementary Education and Reading. My art professor William Crosby, encouraged me to keep painting my whole life. He even tried to convince me to switch my major to art.

Recently, I switched from spending my time making fused glass jewelry to oil painting. My friend Michael Weinberger has been a great influence and sponsor. I have been producing one to two oil paintings a week, getting brush time in. I opened MAB Designs LLC and have been selling pieces and doing some commission work. My web site Mabdesign.net has many of my art pieces. I have had many pieces at Saratoga Art Association member shows, Art in the Park in Saratoga, North Country Art shows in Glens Falls. I have some art at the Bagel Company and participate in the yearly open house at the shirt Factory in Glens Falls. I have had an ongoing show at Work Smart in Glens Falls. My art is at Finishing Touches Store in Malta NY. In October and November 2020 my art will be displayed at the Saratoga Amtrak station. I look forward to displaying art with Uncommon Ground coffee shops in the near future. I had a feature on attractions during track season Saratoga NY broadcasted by ABC Channel 10 news. It covered my art that is produced from pictures of customer's lake cruises with ExtremeHydroFlight. With this company I will be offering Plein Air Art Cruises on Saratoga Lake.

I have been traveling all over the world in the last few years. I have been photographing, painting and doing oil pastels in these locations. My artwork is full of color. I look at the beauty found in the world and exaggerate the color and paint with dramatic brushstrokes to express the emotions and nuances I see in the world. I feel that this technique communicates with the viewer my experience at the locations I paint.

Baxter's exhibition is up for public viewing May 25 - June 28 at Clifton Park-Halfmoon Public Library, 475 Moe Rd, Clifton Park, NY, Monday-Thursday, 9am-7pm, Friday, 9am-5pm and Saturday, 10am-4pm.
