Growing up in upstate New York I've spent a lot of time bonding with nature and exploring the wonders of the forest. My imagery tends to focus on conveying the deep connection I feel to the earth and many of my paintings contain lush and natural elements. My process begins with free loose acrylic washes on top of a charcoal drawing. From there I move into oils to refine. I paint primarily on canvas with occasional paper pieces. The beauty of walking through the woods helps me seek to create strong contrast between the light of the sun coming through the trees and the dark shadows that reflect. I use subtle variations of soft edge work to create a peaceful atmosphere.
