    Saratoga Arts routinely offers courses from drawing and painting to fiber arts and printmaking. We are looking to YOUR expertise to help us grow our educational offerings for adults, teens and kids!

    Furthermore, Saratoga Arts is looking to expand into offering Language Arts, such as creative writing, poetry, storytelling, and spoken word. If you or someone you know would be interested in teaching with us please register today!

    How we approach delivery:  

    •  Three adult/teen seasons:  1st Quarter (Jan – Mar); 2nd Quarter (April – June); and 4th Quarter (Oct – Dec);
    • Our school children's camps run most of 3rd Quarter (July - early September) with a camp offering each of the other 3 quarters during the week of their school breaks
    • Delivery Methods: Series or Workshops
      • Series: artist's choice but typically four to eight weekly classes; 2-3 hours per class
      • Workshops: artist's choice but typically one or two-consecutive days 3-4 hours per day
    • Delivery Hours: typically, only when the Arts Center is open with evening exceptions
      • Mon – Fri: 9-5
      • Sat: 12-4
      • We do run evening classes 5:30 – 8:30 (as scheduled)

    For our slightly older students we have a full day camp to explore art in depth. Students explore basics of new techniques so they can take on advanced arts concepts with confidence.

    During this April Break week, we will specifically work in two directions:

    • Learning acrylic medium, different techniques and art styles.  
    • Creating a final project.

    Choice Based Art Session 2: Teaching for Artistic Behavior Intensive (Two -Week Program)

    These studios are for the budding artist curious about art creations and how to put their own ideas into play... putting their own signature on their art.

    • Philosophy: What do artist do?  The child is the artist. The classroom is their studio.
    • Studio Centers: Drawing, painting, collage, printmaking, sculpting, clay works, weaving, paper, fibers (sewing) and more.
    • Studio Practices: Idea book, artistic statement, titling your piece.
    • For family and friends, on the final day they will present an artist statement around choice piece.

    This is a two-week session to allow extended time on creations.

    Session 3: Introduction to Printmaking and Collage (2 weeks)

    This two-week course will utilize our brand-new printmaking studio, with a tabletop etching press, to immerse students in the magic of multiples.

    Learn the basics of several printmaking techniques, while keeping an eye on art history and developing your visual language with collage. Students will learn drypoint etching, relief block printing, and multi-layered monotypes.

    Session 4: Experiments in Cartoon and Stop-Motion Animation (2 weeks)

    Ever wanted to make your creations move? From layering drawings to sculpting with clay and cut paper, creating stop-motion animations never seemed so doable.

    In this two-week program, students will learn to create content, all building toward a screening of their animations in our black-box theater at the Arts Center.

    Digital Media Exploration (Two-Week Program)

    Ages 9-14

    Introduction to digital photography, digital drawing, animation and graphic design through use of digital devices, free apps and color printing. 

    • Studio Practices: Idea generating, composition, sketchbooks, artist statements, titling your piece
    • For family and friends, on the final day they will present an artist statement around choice piece. 

    *Requirements: Artists must have and bring their own digital device (cell phone or tablet) with camera capabilities and the device's charger to camp each day. A list of free apps to download ahead of camp will be provided at enrollment.
