The Arts Council offers exciting ART Trips to museums, exhibits, artist studios and other destinations of interest to artists and arts patrons. Some of our recent trips include the Philadelphia Museum of Art & Pennsylvania Ballet, the Boston Museum of Fine Arts, and a tour of sculptor John Van Alstine's studio. We also sponsor 10-day to 2-week ART Tours to enticing European locales!

TWO FANTASTIC TRIPS FOR SPRING 2008:
April 27-May 6 - Tuscan Hilltops: Villas, Gardens, and Art
People who want an "Under the Tuscan Sun" experience with a small intimate group of travelers will find the lure of Tuscany unequaled: its lush countryside dotted with villas and their gardens; the walled city of Lucca; Siena's art and architecture; Florence, and the Chianti Region.

May 26-June 6 - China Discovery: Journey of a Lifetime
Explore the ancient yet rapidly changing nation of China on this extraordinary travel program. Begin in Beijing and discover the legendary Great Wall and Forbidden City; continue to Xian for the army of terra-cotta warriors before moving on to a three-day cruise on the Yangtze River.  The trip concludes in cosmopolitan Shanghai.

October 2007: Southern Spain and Morocco
Highlights included:  the sublime Alhambra in Granada;  stunning examples of Moorish architecture in Cordoba; a visit to enchanting Seville; a journey to the mountains for a view of lovely small towns and visit a sherry wine cellar for tasting.  The optional add-on to Morocco  featured a visit to the medina in Marrakesh, attendance at a traditional fantasia, and Bogie's Casablanca!      
 
September 2007: Tour New York's Finger Lakes region.
Travelers visited the Johnson Museum and the Robison State Herb Garden at Cornell University, Taughannock Falls overlook, dine at one of the superb Cayuga Lake wineries, stay at a charming inn near Ithaca College, and see the special exhibition Botanical Wonders: The Story of the Harvard Glass Flowers at the Corning Glass Museum. 
 
SPRING 2007 TO ROME AND FLORENCE:  Our tour of Rome and Florence  departed from JFK on  April 10 and returned on April 21, 2007.  Highlights included:
Glorious Rome: Five Nights at the Villa San Pio;  Visit the Colosseum, Roman Forum, Pantheon; enjoy guided tours of the Borghese Gallery, the Vatican, Sistine Chapel, and St. Peter's Basilica.
Magical Florence: Five nights at the Hotel Rivoli; Guided Tours of the Uffizi Museum, Academmia and Michelangelo's David, plus the Duomo, the Baptistery and the Museum of the Duomo, Santa Croce and the Pitti Palace.  Plus a Day Trip to Pisa 

 
MARCH 9 - 10, 2007: Tutankhamen & the Golden Age of the Pharaohs and the Philadelphia Flower Show.  Arts Council travellers took an overnight bus-trip to Philadelphia to see the amazing King Tut exhibition at the Franklin Institute, co-sponsored by the Egyptian Supreme Council of Antiquities and National Geographic, and to see the nation's largest flower show, entitled Legends of Ireland.  The group stayed at the Garden Hilton Inn Friday night. 

FALL 2006 TRIP TO THE GREEK ISLES: This group from The Arts Council tood a ten-day tour of the Greek Isles. Following two days in Athens, they boarded a ship for a four-day cruise to Mykonos, Rhodes, Crete, Santorini, and Ephesus in Turkey, and enjoyed amazing ruins, breathtaking views, fabulous food (many dinners are included) and incredible music.  

IN THE SHADOW OF VESUVIUS: WANDERING THE AMALFI COAST OF SOUTHERN ITALY: From September 27 through October 4, 2005, a group from The Arts Council explored one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, dotted with picturesque villages and towns stacked precariously on steep, pale rocky cliffs plunging sheer into the Mediterranean Sea. Excursions to Capri, Blue Grotto,and Pompeii were included.
 
JOCK SOTO'S FINAL PERFOMANCE WITH THE NEW YORK CITY BALLET (JUNE 19, 2005): The Arts Council took a group to New York City to attend Jock Soto's sold-out farewell performance with the New York City Ballet.  Mr. Soto personally chose the ballet selections that were presented, which included Dance in the Gym from West Side Story, Barber's Violin Concerto, Chiarscuro, Christopher Wheeldon's Liturgy, and the finale from Union Jack.   
 
 
BLOSSOMS, BARNES and BALLET in PHILADELPHIA: The Arts Council led a trip to The Philadelphia Flower Show (the largest flower show in the country!) and a tour of the exclusive Barnes Foundation's extraordinary collection of Impressionist and Post-Impressionist masterpieces on March 5-6, 2005.  Our travelers also attended an evening performance of the Pennsylvania Ballet's La Fille mal gard (The Wayward Daughter)--a romantic comedy of mismatched lovers.  Overnight accomodations were at the Hilton Garden Inn and included a full American breakfast; roundtrip travel is on a private tour bus.
 

PRAGUE AND BUDAPEST: The Saratoga County Arts Council presented  "Spires, Turrets and Domes: Cities of Splendor in Eastern Europe," an Autumn trip to Prague and Budapest, from October 4-13, 2004. This air-inclusive 10-day package cost $2,700 per person, double occupancy, and included RT airfare from JFK; hotel accomodations at 4-star hotels; daily breakfast; opening and farewell dinners; private motor-coach and art historian guide for day trips; guided city tours; first class reserved seats for train journey from Prague to Budapest; full day tour of countryside with visits to Sternberk and Konopiste, medieval fortress and castle; Danube River cruise and visit to Szentendre, a charming riverside town and artist colony; extensive pre-departure readings and destination travel guide; gratuities.  

LONDON THEATRE TRIP: The Saratoga County Arts Council members and friends enjoyed a London Theatre Trip from February 10-17, 2004. 8-day package includes: RT airfare from JFK, hotel accomodations at 4-star Millenium Knightsbridge Hotel, daily breakfast, 7-day metro pass, tickets to five shows, 2 dinners, 3-course luncheon cruise on the Thames, tour of the Globe Theatre. Price: $1995 per person (double occupancy). 

BUS TRIP TO PHILADELPHIA MUSEUM: March 12-13, 2004: The Saratoga County Arts Council members and friends enjoyed Manet and the Sea at the Philadelphia Museum of Art and the Philadelphia Flower Show. Arranged by SCAC.
