Distribution Grant for New York State Artists
THE NEXT APPLICATION DEADLINE IS OCTOBER 31, 2010.
free103point9 is pleased to announce the 2011 Distribution Grant for New York State Artists providing support for the distribution of new works in film, video, sound, new-media, and media-installation. Funding is available from free103point9 through a regrant from New York State Council on the Arts' Electronic Media and Film Program. Artists may request funding support up to a maximum amount of $10,000. Click here for more information.
Elizabeth Greenshields Foundation
The purpose of the Foundation is to aid artists in the early stages of their careers. Awards are limited to candidates working in painting, drawing, printmaking, and sculpture. Work must be representational; the charter of the Foundation precludes consideration of non-objective art. Applicants must have started or completed art school training or must demonstrate, through past work and future plans, a commitment to making art a lifetime career. Gant amount: $12,500 (Canadian). The Arts Center of the Capital Region - Strategic Opportunity Stipends SOS
A project of the New York Foundation for the Arts, working in collaboration with arts councils and cultural organizations across New York State, is designed to help individual artists of all disciplines take advantage of unique opportunities that will significantly benefit their work or career development. Artists working in all disciplines (including literature, media arts, visual arts, music, and theater) may request support ranging from $100 to $600 for specific, forthcoming opportunities that are distinct from work in progress. New York Foundation for the Arts (NYFA)
Artists' Fellowships Artists' Fellowships are $7,000 cash awards made to individual originating artists living and working in the state of New York for unrestricted use. Grants are awarded in 16 artistic disciplines, with applications accepted in eight categories each year. For more information, email fellowships@nyfa.org
The Martha Boschen Porter Fund, Inc.
The Martha Boschen Porter Fund, Inc. provides grants to individuals in training, studying, or practicing in the arts, based on financial need. Giving confined to Northwest Connecticut and adjacent areas in Massachusetts and New York. This program does NOT support artists residing in New York City. Open application - initial proposal by mail. Include brief description of project (1 page) with rough budget. May also require personal resume, complete budget, and references upon request. New York Crafts Artists Program
The New York Crafts Artists Program offers grants of up to $1000 to professional contemporary crafts artists residing in New York State and creating innovative work in clay, fiber, glass, metal or wood. The Goodrich Foundation, Inc.
The Goodrich Foundation supports organizations working in arts and culture, education, human services, and civic and community. ELIGIBILITY: Contributions are only made to organizations with 501(c)(3) status. In general, multi-year grants, individuals, private foundations, endowments, churches, fraternities, veterans' groups, political parties, and groups with large expenses are not covered. Grants for Arts, Education and Youth-Oriented Programs - Cooper Tire and Rubber Foundation
The Cooper Tire and Rubber Foundation was established in 1953, and its fields of interest include museums, arts, elementary and secondary education, higher education, and youth-oriented programs. ELIGIBILITY: Contact the foundation for specific eligibility criteria. Giving is on a national basis. Submissions should include a detailed description of the project. Light Work
All artists working in photography and related media may apply for Light Work's Artist-in-Residence program, offering a $4,000 stipend, apartment to stay in, private darkroom, and 24-hour access to Light Work's facility. Artists should submit letter of intent, describing plans for residency; current resume, including exhibition record; artist statement; around twenty images (slides, proof prints, or disk); postage for return of materials or note to discard material after review process. Paul Robeson Fund for Independent Media Deadline: annual recurring, May 15.
Named to honor singer, actor, and civil rights activist Paul Robeson, the Fund supports media activism and grassroots organizing by funding the pre-production and distribution of social issue film and video projects, and the production and distribution of radio projects, made by local, state, national, or international organizations and individual media producers. The Fields Sculpture Park

Princess Grace Awards
The Princess Grace Awards is a national program dedicated to identifying and assisting emerging young artists in theater, dance and film through scholarships, apprenticeships, and fellowships. The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards
STUDENTS currently enrolled in grades 7-12 in a public, private, or parochial school and home-schooled students in the United States or U.S. Territories, as well as students in grades 7-12 who attended U.S.-sponsored schools abroad are eligible to participate in The Scholastic Art & Writing Awards. The Andy Warhol Preserve Residencies
Artists in residence are provided with basic housing for one week, during which time they have access to the Andy Warhol Preserve for artistic pursuits. The artist in residence agrees to conduct one educational workshop during his or her stay, but is free to pursue his/her own artistic endeavors during the rest of the week. Abrons Arts Center Photography and Welding Residencies Annual recurring deadline: May 1.
The Abrons Arts Center, in partnership with the Educational Alliance, offers two residencies in Photography and Welding. Both residencies are sited at the Educational Alliance Art School, and artists will have the opportunity to use facilities and equipment at scheduled times for approximately 33 hours a week. Welding residencies require a NYC Fire Department License.
Ledig House International Writers' Residency Annual recurring deadline November 30.
Ledig House International Writers' Residency is located approximately two and a half hours north of New York City in the town of Omi, in the scenic Hudson River Valley. Writers and translators from all fields are encouraged to apply for a residence lasting anywhere from one week to two months. Up to 20 writers per session - 10 at a given time - live and write on the stunning 300 acre grounds and sculpture park that overlook the Catskill Mountains. For more information visit: www.artomi.org
