Home Made Theater - Auditions for "Footloose The Musical" Home Made Theater, Saratoga's resident theater company is pleased to announce that for the first time, their popular musical Conservatory program will have a summer session. HMT's Conservatory program gives students an exciting, creative and supportive environment in which to experience the thrill and exhiliration of performing in a full production. Registration has begun for children and teens ages 12 - 18 years for the production of Dean Pitchford and Walter Bobbie's "Footloose The Musical." "Footloose" celebrates the wisdom of listening to young people and guiding them with a warm heart and open mind, all set to the rockin' rythym of its Oscar-nominated top 40 score. No experience is necessary; students of all levels and experience are welcome and all students who register will be cast in the production. Rehearsals and performances will be held at the New Visions Black Box Theater at BOCES on Henning Rd., Saratoga Springs. Rehearsals will begin on Monday, July 9 and will run Monday - Friday from 12:40pm - 4pm through August 3. Performances will be August 3 and 4 at 7:30pm and August 5 at 1:30pm. Registration is $310, which includes a refundable $15 deposit for the script. The registration deadline is June 20th. Friends of Ulysses S. Grant Cottage - Upcoming Events The Friends of Ulysses S. Grant Cottage present a wide range of events in July: Sunday, July 1 from 12-3pm - Independence Day Picnic featuring music by Idette and the Sunrunners and short readings of Independence Day speeches from 1885. Admission is $6 adults, $4 kids.; July 14 from 1-3pm - Saturday on the Proch featuring speaker Hollis Palmer. Admission is $4 adults, $3 seniors/studnets, $2 kids.; July 21 from 1-3pm - Annual Tea and Silent Auction featuring elegant sandwiches and desserts served with iced tea amd lemonade as well a a silent auction. Winners will be announced at 3pm. Tickets are $30 for members, $35 for non-members. Tickets must be purchased in advance by calling 584-8190.; July 22 at 1pm - Grant Rememberance Day presented by the Friends of Ulysses S. Grant Cottage and the Sons of Union Veterans to commemorate the death of Ulysses S. Grant. The Grant family will be portrayed by costumed re-enactors. The National Museum of Dance Announces Summer Schedule The National Museum of Dance will be offering a variety of classes for all ages and abilities starting July 9 through August 17. Try a single class or sign up for a series of classes to meet your busy summer schedule needs. Classes will be offered in Creative Movement, Classical Ballet, Modern Dance and Pilates.
