Saratoga Program for Arts Funding (SPAF) &
Fulton-Montgomery Arts Grants (F-MAG)
SPAF & F-MAG provide funding for arts & cultural programming through PROJECT and INDIVIDUAL ARTIST grants in Saratoga, Fulton & Montgomery Counties. _______________________________________________________________

2012 SPAF Individual Artist and Project Grant Recipients
Saratoga Arts awarded ten SPAF Project Grants for 2012, totaling $32,500, and one SPAF Artist Grant totaling $2,500.

Marilyn McCabe - $2,500
Poet
At Freeman's Farm: The relatively new field of Video-Poetry will be explored bringing multiple dimensions to a poem about war that was inspired by the ghosts haunting the Historical Saratoga National Battlefield.

Corinth Youth Commission  - $5,000
The 2012 Summer Theatre Workshop: Youth ages 8-18 will participate in a five-week program culminating with five performances of a full-scale production in July 2012.

Dance Alliance, Inc. - $5,000
Saratoga Dances II: A ballet commission inspired by Yaddo Gardens, choreographed by New York City Ballet’s Justin Peck, danced by members of NYC Ballet with original costumes and lighting design.

Galway Public Library - $2,800
The Galway Community in Images, Words, and Sound:  A new arts media approach to bringing arts, literacy and community together in an accessible print and digital word e-book.

Mechanicville District Public Library - $3,300
Tunes at Tallmadge Concert Series: Music from the 60's to the present, including Celtic, Jazz and Swing, Country, Western, and Harmonic Classic Rock will be performed.

Saratoga County Economic Opportunity Council, Inc. - $3,000
Estamos Aqui (We Are Here): A black and white photography workshop series for Latino immigrants that live and work in Saratoga County.

Saratoga Shakespeare Company - $2,000
Artistic Salary Support for Twelfth Night: For artistic salary support for Saratoga Shakespeare Company’s costume designer, Brittney Belz.

Saratoga Soundtrack Chorus - $2,100
The Evolution of Barbershop: A Musical Odyssey: SSC will perform barbershop music through a cappella harmony and creative visual choreography.

Spring Street Gallery - $2,500
Spring Street Gallery Reading Series, Curated by Adirondack Center for Writing: A two five-week reading series in 2012, with the intention of highlighting new authors from outside the immediate Saratoga Springs region.

The Greenfield Review Literary Center - $2,400
Down to Earth Performance Series: A series of performances, each of which pairs a Native American musician or musical group with a Native American or north-country storyteller.

Village of Ballston Spa – $4,400
Ballston Spa Film Festival: The Ballston Spa Film Festival presents the film work of area filmmakers, local filmmakers and young filmmakers from across the country alongside the films of working professionals worldwide.



2012 F-MAG Project Grant Recipients
Saratoga Arts awarded fifteen F-MAG Project Grants for 2012, totaling $32,200.

Amsterdam Waterfront Foundation - $2,424
Riverlink Park Summer Series '12: The Foundation's annual concert series will be comprised of a musical performance each Saturday, July 7 - August 25, 2012.

Caroga Historical Association and Museum - $1,384
Music Program: Musical act, Jamcrackers, will perform at Adirondack Paradise, Caroga Lake, NY.

Colonial Little Theatre - $2,894
Colonial Little Theatre 2012 Theatre Series: Funds will go towards expenses associated with three plays for 2012: Walter Knott's thriller Dial 'M' for Murder, Neil Simon's comedy, Barefoot in the Park, and the musical Nunsense II.

Cornell Cooperative Extension in Fulton and Montgomery Counties – $2,000
Creating Youth Leaders Through Super - 8 Film Workshop Series: During this eight-week workshop series youth and adult-volunteers will learn how to light for film, write compelling stories, draw story-boards, edit, and process 8mm film. The workshop series will culminate in a screening of the films.

Foothills Family Productions - $1,324
Disney's Alice In Wonderland, Jr.: A summer musical theater production for children. This participation program is open and free of cost to children ages 7-14.

Friends of Schoharie Crossing - $2,100
"Not Just For Kids" Storytelling Series: This program presents local, regional and national storytellers with widely varying cultural traditions and personal styles to an underserved rural audience.

Fulton Montgomery Community College Foundation - $1,300
How To Have A Successful Career As An Artist by John Van Alstine: This program will offer direction to artists who want to make money doing what they love.

Glove Performing Arts Center - $4,000
In Darfur: A beautifully written and powerfully performed play dramatizing the genocide in Africa. Genocide and the role of the press will be explored in this age-appropriate drama.

Mental Health Association of Fulton and Montgomery Counties, Inc. - $2,124
Arts for the Whole Community: A series of arts events beginning in February that will occur twice weekly, with each week having a different theme.

Sacandaga Valley Arts Network - $3,328
Music for the Valley: A series of musical events that will take place from January to August 2012. The purpose is to provide high-quality music, both local and non-local musicians from many musical genres, to the Northville region.

Town of Stratford - $1,800
Annual Music Festival: A diverse mix of musical groups will perform at this annual musical festival, including Dick Solberg and the Sun Mountain Band.

Village of Fort Plain - $2,724
The Village of Fort Plain Community Events: Two community events will be coordinated: The Last Night Celebration 2012, a news year gala; The annual 3rd on the 4th of July in Wiles Park, Fort Plain, NY.

Village of St. Johnsville - $1,524
Concerts in the Park: Six free music concerts will be held on Monday nights from 6:30pm to 8:30pm, July through August, at the local marina's gazebo in Marina Drive, St. Johnsville, NY.

Village of Canajoharie - $2,200
Music on Mainstreet Summer Concert Series: A diverse line up of musical performances by regionally, nationally, and internationally known performers continues for the sixteenth year. Six free concerts on Tuesday evenings in July and August will be held on the easily accessible town square lawn in downtown Canajoharie, NY.

Van Alstyne Homestead Society - $1,074
Dick "The Fiddler" Solberg and the Sun Mountain Band Music Concert: Veteran headliner, Dick "The Fiddler" Solberg and his four-piece Sun Mountain Band, will be the main entertainment attraction of the "VAHS's First Harvest Fest" at the Van Alstyne Homestead, October 6, 2012.
