Classes & Workshops
The
Saratoga County Arts Council is dedicated to offering the highest
quality of classes to artists of all ages and at all artistic
levels. We work with nearly 30 well-qualified teachers, many whom
are exhibiting artists, to develop a course schedule that offers the
best classes in a variety of different fine art and decorative art
mediums. We also offer development opportunities for arts
professionals and administrators.

A little about spring classes... a letter from our Executive Director
Thirteen years ago the Saratoga
County Arts Council began the process of turning the old Saratoga
Springs Public Library into The Arts Center. The process was
neither easy nor inexpensive, but by investing more than $550,000
over a number of years, the Council created a space that well suits our
programs.
We always intended, however, to do more work downstairs in our
“educational wing,” and this Spring, in cooperation with the City of
Saratoga Springs, those renovations will begin. Classroom #1 - what was
the Community Room when the building was the library - will receive a
complete make-over as part of a larger project to create public
restroom facilities in the underused northeast corner of the building.
By the end of the project, Classroom #1, our most-used space for visual
arts education, will have new flooring, lighting, ceiling, and built-in
storage. The space will be easier to keep organized, and will feel less
like an ad-hoc adaptation and more like a space created for the quality
education we deliver. It will also, unfortunately, be a bit
smaller, as some of the current space will be claimed for the restroom
project (part of the price we pay for the pleasure of being in
Congress Park). We expect though that the other improvements will
compensate for the loss of space, partly by increasing the efficiency
of the space we have.
The Arts Council is committed to running our classes without
interruption during construction, but doing so requires us to pare down
our offerings and enrollment caps as we temporarily use other rooms in
The Arts Center. Enroll early to be sure you get into the class you
want!
Thank you in advance for your patience - I think we’ll all be pleased with the results of the renovation.
