It's hard to believe that Saratoga Arts is celebrating its 30th Anniversary this year! For many, the memories of establishing the Saratoga County Arts Council (as we were known in 1986) are fresh and vivid. There's another reason that thirty years seems incredible: Saratoga Arts has become such an integral cultural part of Saratoga Springs and the greater region, that it seems like we've always been supporting community arts.
Our stability hasn't meant we've stayed in the same place, as each year we increase our ability to serve more people. In 2015, we saw record participation in Saratoga Arts' community arts programs, giving us great momentum as we begin our 30th year of enriching the region and ensuring that the arts are accessible to all.
Interest from young artists has soared in our school vacation programs; our exhibitions programs have exploded with opportunities for artists of all ages to display and sell their work, with over 800 art pieces in our summer 10 x 10 show alone; and this fall we received 38% more applications for our community arts grants than the year before.
We'll celebrate our success this year by building on our thirty-years supporting community arts and artists. The Arts Center Gallery will display the work of the teachers and artists of all ages that we've always valued; we will reach a new milestone when we award over $100,000 to support community arts projects in three counties. As a regional partner in arts programming we'll be offering a professional development workshop with Skidmore's Arts Administration program, a new literary arts summer camp with Northshire Bookstore, and an exhibition of college artists, in partnership with LARAC in Glens Falls and The Arts Center of the Capital Region in Troy.
Join us as we grow and transform more lives through the arts, and to celebrate Saratoga Arts' 30th Anniversary of weaving creative endeavors into the daily fabric of our community! Please consider making a contribution today!
